Enigma

The earthy brine of it,
that salty-sweet stink–
and the chill, too,
in any season except
the dead
center point
of summer, when
even the tangled
beach brush has
stopped blowing.

And at night,
the parking
lot, scooped
up and hidden in a
patch of trees, where
the boats and the
moon sometimes
sleep.
